My Stretchmark Prevention Routine!

20 Weeks Preggo!

Hey y’all! Now that I am 20 weeks pregnant, I thought it was important to implement a stretch mark prevention routine! I do understand that stretchies can depend heavily on genetics, but why not do everything in your power to help that? Plus there are sooooo many new oils and lotions out now that our mommas didn’t have when we were born so who knows, maybe their stretchies were preventable too if these things were available to them back then?

I’ve been applying my oils and lotions since about 3 months pregnant or around when I started to get a little bump. I didn’t want to wait for it too be too late! Plus this pregnancy has dried the heck out of my skin since the beginning so I was hydrating with lotion pretty early on simply out of necessity. On top of using good products, I also think it is crucial to have a good routine!! It’s not enough to apply once a day, in my opinion. 2-3 times a day for 3-5 minutes should really insure that everything is really soaked into the skin.

As you can see from the picture above, there is a shine on my belly. That is basically the amount of oil I try to keep my tummy hydrated with most of the time. This is what it should look like after you’ve rubbed the tum (or your man rubs the tum) for a solid couple of minutes. You can definitely leave it more oily than this but try not to do any less. I’ve just found that the more oil you leave, obviously the messier things get.

*Wear clothes you don’t mind ruining with oil! And definitely put down a towel on your bedding otherwise those oil stains will leave your sheets looking like a wet mess!

Here are my top 3 pregnancy stretch mark prevention products (*it literally took me 10 minutes to think of the word ‘products.’ The pregnancy brain has been hitting me hard lately, I can barely form coherent sentences. Hunter looks at me like, ‘what are you trying to say woman??’)

Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter, 6.5 Ounces (Pack of 3)

Bio-Oil 4.2oz: Multiuse Skincare Oil

Stretch Mark Cream for Pregnancy – Mommy Knows Best – Anti Cellulite Vanishing Cream – Remove Stretch Marks From Pregnancy – Clinically Proven Prevention Lotion Therapy

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion For Stretch Marks with Vitamin E and Shea Butter Women Body Lotion, 8.5 Ounce

Along with these awesome products, I use a Trader Joes body butter (warm vanilla) which is so delicious on the skin, The Body Shops Honeymania body butter and lastly, I use Franks Body scrub once a week as well. This body scrub smells amazing, feels so invigorating and very hydrating! I’m planning on making a Youtube video soon on all these products, how I apply them and just an overall update on my 20 week belly!

Important reminder!!! You can take all these preventative measures but please remember, even if you do get a few stretch marks here and there, YOU are STILL a beautiful, powerful momma bear whose stretchies are only a sweet reminder of what your body is capable of! You made a damn baby! A whole dang human being! Like how incredible is that?? It’s the most natural thing on Earth but it still blows my mind. Your stripes make you a warrior momma and absolutely something to show off and be proud of.

Love,

Kandy
